小女孩芳芳因病残疾腿不能动，跟村里的老树奶奶学剪纸，她们家为她治病花了不少钱，生活贫困，连村里的新房都住不上。芳芳焦急不安。一次到镇上赶集，她把自己的剪纸摆在市场，恰逢几个外国游客看准花四百美金买了几十幅。村里不少人一看剪花能赚钱就纷纷开剪，结果县文化馆领导来村征集剪纸，除芳芳的外其他都没看准，村长对大伙说芳芳是用她的命在剪花，你们的心里剪花占多少分量！在省残疾儿童救助中心的救助下，芳芳又站了起来，村长领着大伙问芳芳有什么要求，芳芳哭着说她要上学。。The film is a dramatic re-enactment of real-life events that took place in 1968 in the small village of San Miguel Canoa in Puebla, México.
