古老的北京城，中年男子孙子旺（梁冠华饰）和妻子杨喜莲（杨瑞霞饰）过着平凡的生活。一封当年插队恋人秀儿的来信，将孙子旺夫妇本就危机重重的婚姻彻底摧毁。原来信中秀儿提及曾生养一对龙凤双胞胎，因无力抚养和社会的压力而将孩子送人。肩负秀儿的嘱托，孙踏上了寻找孩子的旅途，几经辗转却得知孩子们早就被人领养送到了美国。孙在美国找到插队时的好友张大年（王伯昭饰），可是张似乎对其寻子之事并不热忱。一番辛苦过后，孙终于找到分别过这不同生活的两个孩子福兰克（王骁饰）和安琪拉（安雅饰）。他的到来，似乎又让这两个过早经历太多人世艰辛的孩子体味到更多的痛苦……。We made a movie in a day: We traveled 467 miles, to 20 locations, with 18 actors, in less than 24 hours. The lead actress wasn't given a script, a story line, or even her character name. She 'woke up' in a hotel room with no memory, and her only goal was to figure out who she was.
